Awakening into an existence he can scarcely comprehend, Kyrael, an Angel of the First Order, finds himself set to a task he can scarcely ignore: journey into Hell and unseat the nefarious Archduke of Felony, the Fallen Angel Nisroc. Battered and barely able to avoid the Grigori?s evil influence, Kyrael nonetheless wins free, only to find himself all too soon at his destination, the prison of the Fallen One he had set out to do battle with. Yet in reflecting back upon his perilous journey and his marginal escape from some of Hell?s lesser demons, Kyrael arrives at one very disheartening realization: If only God can create an Angel, Fallen or otherwise, what exactly will it take to destroy one?Meanwhile on Earth, Bradley Faulkner, a mentally challenged ?employee? at the Greenpaw Institute, finds himself in his own predicament: should he accept a ride home from his co-worker and secret ?superhero? friend, Mitch Bassett, or should he avoid any such confrontation, as his boss Mr. Hutchinson has time and again advised? Christy, Mitch ?Doberman? Bassett?s girlfriend, makes up Bradley?s simple mind for him, with a quick flash of her breasts. Yet as the three of them drive off with promises of more raunchy revelations, Bradley notices they are heading in the wrong direction, away from his apartment building only a few blocks up the street. Where are they going? When asked, Doberman responds with a closed fist, and breath that reeks of cheap beer. They?re going to meet some other ?superhero? friends, who are going to help ?initiate? Bradley into their ultra-secret organization...Yet unbeknownst to either Bradley or the Angel Kyrael, the realms of both Hell and Earth are about to collide, through a devilish plot instigated by a Fallen Cherub, one of the highest orders of demons.
